Through out the play Othello, Othello and Desdemona are shown to develop entertainingly through the various situations they meet. In this particular extract the situation involves the symbolism of the handkerchief how much this meant to Othello which Desdemona could not understand as well as Desdemona tying to resolve the friendship between Othello and Cassio. Here as an audience we see the different personality types Desdemona and Othello have through the language dialogue and tone Shakespeare uses. Desdemona is rather naive and innocent possibly due to her upper class up bringing, she is protected from most outside influences and because of this she is rather inexperienced. Othello is extremely gullible, this idea that he heard Iago's notion of Desdemona's activities and accepted them straight away; this shows his character to lack the intelligence to evaluate a situation with his own mind. Through Othello and Desdemona's misunderstanding of each others thoughts and feelings they could be seen to have similar personality trends as they were both fooled by Iago's plan.…
