Daisy only used Gatsby as a fling, manipulating him to believe that she actually loved him again. After the death of Myrtle, Daisy did not even bother to bid Gatsby goodbye, instead, she left immediately. Nick saw that the rich, like Daisy, could meddle and destroy the lives of those "lesser" than them, and at the end of the day, they could run away and fix everything with their money. During the 1920s, people only looked out for themselves, using others for their own means and purposes. People were often discarded once they could no longer be used, just like how Daisy discarded Gatsby. So many people went to Gatsby's parties and used him for a good time, but when Gatsby actually needed them, none of them were there. Daisy, the woman that Gatsby believed loved him as he had loved her for so many years, not only did she not attend his funeral, but she did not even send a flower or message. The society and its values of the 1920s were self-centered and materialistic, caring very little for consequences and others.…
