Edmund betrays his father Gloucester and his brother Edgar, Both father and brother do not know that they were betrayed, as Edgar thinks his father is against him, and Gloucester thinks that his first born son is against him. Edmund is upset with the society's attitude towards bastards, and is upset that his half-brother Edgar is first inline to inherit their father's estate. Edmund then tricks his Gloucester his father into believing that Edgar wants to kill Gloucester, by showing him a letter that Gloucester believes that Edgar wrote. Edmund then tells Edgar that Gloucester is mad at him, causing chaos between father and son. Edgar is terrified and is later found by King Lear's Fool hiding in a hovel, disguised as a madman claiming to be "Poor Tom". King Lear takes pity on Edgar and tears his clothing off to show his pity.…
