Manha De Carnival

This is an essay about musical form of Manha De Carnival by Sigman and Bonfa, arguably one of the most popular Brazilian pieces in the repertoire. This music has some of the main features of jazz. It relies heavily on the rhythm and drums create the base rhythm. In addition, other instruments create the thread that binds the whole piece beautifully together. This rhythm also creates a great capability for the music to be used for a dance or rhythmic movements, maybe such as rowing a boat or harvesting. This music has a strong connotation for me; it reminds me of Salsa Dance and music.
