Aids is a complicated illness that may involve several phases. It is caused by a virus that can be passed from person to person. It is not only infecting individuals but, also our society. Until a cure is recovered it will continue to plague human society. No person will ever be truly safe.
Aids stands for acquired immunodeficiency or sometimes known as immune deficiency syndrome. It results from infection with a virus called HIV, which stands for human immunodeficiency virus.
Amongst our modern day society there are many confusions regarding aids. Many individuals seem to believe that HIV and aids are the same issue. However, the terms aids refers to an advanced stage of HIV infection, when the immune system has sustained substantial damage. Not everyone who encounters HIV infection is exposed to aids. When HIV progresses to aids, however, it has proved to be a universally fatal illness. Few people actually survive five years from the time they are diagnosed with aids, although this is increasing with improvements in treatment techniques.
