Every country has marvelous places that most tourists would like to visit. Some countries have enormous cities with huge skyscrapers; others have great mountains or deep valleys. None of this exists in Latvia. Then what attracts tourists here? Latvia has several splendid sights that every visitor is willing to see. Three of them are Old Riga, Palace of Rundāle, the seacoast.
Every visitor is willing to see Vecrīga. Old Riga is , as its name suggests, the most ancient part of the city. Beginning in the 13th century the Old Riga was gradually enlarged as the decades passed. As was typical for European cities of the same age, Riga was built around a central square, with castles for the feudal overlords, with churches and cloisters, guilds for tradesmen and craftsmen, and narrow, winding streets along which residental homes were located. As Old Riga became part of the city center of a major metrapolis, its appearance changed. Banks, office buildings and large residental buildings were put up. In the 1920s and 1930s much of Old Riga was reconstructed, a process during which many old buildings were torn down to make room for new ones.
