British and Britishness

The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street, Big Ben, Routemaster, Stonehenge and so on – it seems that this list is endless – a list of things that come to my mind when I think about Great Britain and its citizens. There’s plenty of new, valuable information that I’ve gained during the course that I’m actually a bit afraid that a lot of these things won’t fit in just one essay. However, I will consider some of the most essential aspects concerning Great Britain, because this country, along with several other developed countries like New Zealand, Belgium and Canada, simply gives the impression that everything in general is well-organized, comfortable, and people are friendly and tolerant, in other words, there is a high welfare. What I want to say is that my homeland (Latvia) could ‘take some tips’ from the UK in order to make my country better and better every day.…
