Communication with Patient. Good communication is an important part of the healing process. Patients are more likely to adhere to treatment and have better outcomes, greater satisfaction with treatment. Using effective communication techniques can help build a more satisfying relationship with older patients and become more skilled in managing their care. When starting communication with the patient, first must introduce yourself clearly. Need to show that you accept the patient and want to hear his or her concerns. Must clarify role and refresh patient's memory. Need avoid rushing older patients. Discussing the issues with patient will provide important information and can improve treatment. A sense of urgency makes people think that they are not being listened to or understood. It is important to avoid interrupting and need to use active listening skills, and maintain eye contact with patient.
