Therefore the importance of gender and race in "The Great Gatsby" and "The adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is crucial, as the use of both enable us to understand the era they are set in. These two novels enable us to gain insight to common beliefs and values in regards to gender and race in the era they have been composed. There are also many important American literary tropes that are explored in the two texts "The Great Gatsby" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Within "The Great Gatsby" the American literary tropes that are included are alienation, and within "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" there is exploration of independence or freedom and democracy and equality. In conclusion it is of great importance that there are strong themes of gender and race used throughout, as the use of both enables the author to accurately demonstrate the perceptions of gender and race of the period.…
