"What is the matter? What is wrong?" Mums voice came from behind us.
Then just as quickly as it became dark all the lights around the camping ground came on and everyone was talking and clapping loud, all looking in the one direction. Kate and I realized that there was a group of aboriginal showing us a corroboree and what we had seen was the show.
"We're O.K. it's just our imagination," I said to Mum who was looking at us in an amusing way.
Kate and I sure slept well that night very close to each other.
Early morning we packed up our camp and begun our next trip west.
Soon we came to the flaming flowers of the waratah, the golden glory of the wattle, the scented leaves and grey bark of the eucalyptus tree. We both took deep breaths and could smell the scents.
It was Kate who broke the silence. "It's good to be back in the country where things are green and smell good."
"It sure is." Mum and I said together.
