In choosing to pursue a career in any sort of teaching, a person has to be willing to make lifestyle changes. If I were to continue my studies in music to a professional level, I would need to make several changes. Relocation would be a possibility, and I do not know if I would be comfortable living far away from my parents. Vacations during the fall and spring months would be limited since school is in session. However, I believe the largest change I would have to make is adjusting from a students' perspective towards teaching to an educator's perspective. I do not plan on pursuing a career in music education; although, I have discovered a lot of new information that made me realize the difficulty and importance of all educators. Entering this project, I was aware of most of the duties of a music educator, and after shadowing Mrs. Cole for two days, she exposed me to side of the classroom a student rarely gets to experience. The educators I have met through music have helped me learn how to pass on the passion that someone has in their career. Music is one of my passions, but I want to be able to challenge myself in areas I have not yet experienced in my career pursuits. Even though I may not choose to pursue a career in music education, I will continue to appreciate and enjoy all forms of music. Music educators play an important role in the American school system, and I am very grateful to have been able to experience both sides involved with teaching.…
