My heroes are those close to me who are working hard every day to make our country safe again: my best friend's boyfriend who was sent to Iraq to look for Saddam Hussein, my high school ceramics teacher, Mrs. Caulkins, who is serving her time here in the states, and finally, my brother. My brother has been in the National Guard for four years. Right now he is stationed at the Charleston Naval Weapon Station in South Carolina. Like every soldier, active or inactive, there is still a chance he will be sent overseas, especially with recent rumors of a draft. Like every soldier, he is ready and willing. That makes him a hero in my mind. It is people like him who work hard to protect our country. These are the heroes who volunteered to make sure that we never have to face another tragedy like we faced on September 11, 2001.…
