Part of the EU 5G network will be developed in partnership with Huawei as one of the strongest mobile technology brands in the world. Although the equipment needed for the 5G network is manufactured by several major world-class players - China's Huawei, Sweden's Ericsson, Finland’s Nokia. However some European countries prefer China to build the network.
EU-China cooperation under the Strategic Partnership is well complemented by the 16 + 1 format (11 EU Member States and 5 Balkan countries), where China defines 3 priority areas for cooperation - infrastructure, high technology and green technologies - and therefore cooperation with China in the field of communication technologies, including 5G is so important.
