The war was finally over, after a lot of struggling and losing many lives the World War II came to an end after the United States had dropped the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Over 300,000 people had died by the end of the World War II. After the Atomic bomb was dropped a lot of people thought that United States had done a wrong thing, some of my colleagues also thought that United States had done the worst thing that history had ever witnessed, but I personally think that if America had not used the atomic bomb, than America wouldn't be what it is today, a Super Power. I was based on the Okinawa Island; I was a lieutenant colonel 1st class. It all started after the United States had taken over the Islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. We had an enormous job to do; we had to show the Japanese that we are not weak and that they only strengthened us by attacking us treacherously at Pearl Harbor.
The United States was engaged in negotiations with Japan to end the war but Japan was not willing to show any interest in doing so. The longer the war would last the more lives United States was bound to loose. The options for our President Harry Truman were many but none of them came too easy.…
