Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein would not have been nearly as successful and seen as such a world classic novel without the very important use of the frame story. It served in a great number of various functions, such as introducing the setting, themes, providing the reader with different views of the characters, and allowing them to speak in their own thoughts. All of which made the novel the masterpiece it turned out to be. Frankenstein will live on for a long time and will continue to be a world famous story due to Shelley's excellent writing abilities. In choosing to place the frame story around the main body of the novel she has managed to make her work appeal to various age groups. Even though the story was written so long ago it has managed to live on through various different version, plays, and movies. The monster whom which Frankenstein created has become an icon in the horror world.…
