1768. gadā dominikāņi nojauca Aglonas koka baznīcu un tajā pašā vietā lika pamatus jaunajai ēkai. Vienlaicīgi blakus baznīcai tika uzsākta arī jauna mūra ēka klosterim. Dievkalpojumiem uzcēla pagaidu mūra ēku, kurā novietoja no koka baznīcas pārvietoto altāri ar svētgleznu un ērģeles.

Klosteris.
Klosteris dibināts 1699.gadā, bet vairākas reizes tika slēgts, kopš 1992.gada tas ir atjaunojis savu darbību.
