Sanmarīno atrodas Eiropas dienvidos un veido anklāvu Itālijas teritorijā. Tā ir mazākā neatkarīgā valsts Eiropā aiz Vatikāna un Monako. Valsts atrodas Apenīnu kalnos. Sanmarīno valda Vidusjūras klimats ar vēsām ziemām un siltām, saulainām vasarām. Sanmarīno ainavā dominē kalni un tikai 17% no tās teritorijas var izmantot lauksaimniecībā. Cauri mazajai valstiņai plūst arī vairākas upes, no tām zināmākās ir Ausa, Marano un Sanmarīno.
