1. Why, according to Thomson, is the difference between killing and letting die ethically relevant?
The concept is that even though letting people die is never a positive thing, there are situations where it might be a goal to allow more people to die by not killing someone else. Thus, these two differ from one another morally. You can base your decision on the statistics if the issue is one of killing people, and both solutions entail killing people by actively carrying out acts that kill people.
