That HIV was a homosexual disease, that humans got it by having sex with monkeys, that you can get it from sharing forks or touching an infected person, and that HIV always leads to AIDS are all common misconceptions about AIDS.
e. How does the immune system work, normally and with HIV
The immune system usually fights off diseases by producing antibodies that can combat them. With HIV, HIV tricks the immune system and makes it so weak that it is unable to fight any diseases, and people die from not being able to fight anything off.
