After that Darcy went to police station to give a report about a missing friend –five feet seven, one hundred and twenty pounds, auburn hairs, blue eyes, twenty –eight years old Erin.
Susan –wife of distrustful Doug Fox called to hotel, where her husband was staying at. She discovered that he was lying that he will be there and understood that her father was right –his is not honest and he don’t love his kids and wife either. And first time in her life she confessed to herself–it’s time to divorce.
Finally in story comes in Charley –the killer. And at this moment the author tells you how exactly Erin’s and Charley’s date was going on. The strangest thing was that she wasn’t like other girls- she was even better that Nan and he couldn’t ignore that. But it all happened again –the eight frozen body in his freezer was there.
After Nona called to good friend of her in story shows up detective –Vince D’Ambrosio. Tall, trim, brown, short hair and the same color eyes. He was doing the investigation. And he started with checking ads. But not only investigation was the thing that connected him with Nona.
A homeless named Petey Potters found Erin’s dead body on the pier next to West Side Highway. He heard in the middle of the night how car stopped and after few minutes was gone. He stole her gold necklace, but did not tell anybody about young woman’s dead body on the pier.
Darcy and Nona with detective Vince had to go to the New York City morgue to find out is the dead woman Erin. When Darcy saw the familiar profile all she could say was: ‘I give you my word Charles Worth is going to pay for what he did to you!’ Charles Worth was a suspect. They found add written by his name to what Erin answered so they thought he is the one. That explains Darcy’s words.
By that time all day news were showing horrible assassination and one by one all were informed about Erin’s death. But especially Doug Fox was shocked about the fact, because it remained to him time in college when Nan was murdered by the same way. His wife Susan was suspicious when her husband became ghastly white hearing the bad news.…
The story is 138 pages long. It is written about events that happened in two weeks in characters life, but it includes everything that has happened in last 15 years –memories, facts and relations. “Love music? Single, professional male seeks attractive, trusting female, age 22 -34. If you adore Fred Astaire and long to fox –trot, let’s dance. I promise you, if you tango with me, you’ll never dance with anyone else again. Call me, I’m waiting for you.” This is how the author Mary Higgins Clark introduces you with hero of the story –a serial killer who leaves each of his victims wearing one high –heeled dancing slipper. He attracts his victims through personal ads a New York City’s trendy magazines. When he says in his advertisement –if you tango with me, you’ll never dance with anyone else again –that doesn’t means that he’s a gorgeous dancer –it means that you are going to be killed. It all started in March 12, during spring break. He- Charley – was in love with Nan. He bought a present for her –high heeled dancing slippers and wanted to surprise her on birthday. She wasn’t happy about his present and told him to leave, but he thrown her to the ground, squeezed her throat until Nan’s arms stopped flailing. Charley fastened slippers on her feet and danced with Nan. After that he gone, he had left one slipper on her foot. Since that fifteen years have been gone away, but still Charley couldn’t stop killing young girls leaving one slipper on their foot. 7 young girls -7 bodies in the freezer at his own home. Story tells about girls he has been killed and one of last ones supposed to be Darcy Scott. Young women who 4 years has been working in an advertising agency and after that passed to interior designing. Her parents were famous actors –Barbara Thorne and Robert Scott. The other victim was Erin Kelley. Both of them were roommates in college and now at the age 28 they were very close. One day they decided to answer to ads in local newspaper and started going out. There was one add they both answered to. Guess who was the author? One day Chris Sheridan –Nan’s twin brother working in his office got a message from his assistant Sarah Johnson that his mother Greta is waiting for him to answer the call. And what she said was that she got a mail where was written that in memory of Nan, a dancing girl from Manhattan is going to die on the evening of February 19 in exactly the way Nan did. She was scared and asked for her son is there anyone that they could warn?
