Senā Ēģiptes civilizācija atradās ziemeļaustrumāfrikā pie Nīlas.
Senā Ēģipte bija stipri izolēta no pasaules. Rietumos tai atradās smilšu tuksnesis ar dažām oāzēm. Austrumos – kalnainais Arābijas tuksnesis, caur kuru veda ceļ uz Sarkano jūru, pa kuru tika uzturēti sakari ar Arābiju un Puntu. Dienvidos augšup pa Nīlu varēja nokļūt Kušas zemē. Savukārt ziemeļos Delta uzturēja sakarus ar Vidusjūru.
