A living document is similar to a social networking system, with users as central nodes in the network, with the difference that interaction is focused on papers rather than people with the ability to represent research interests, expertise, affiliations, and links to web based tools and databanks, are the central axis for interaction amongst users.
This paper gave a little glimpse into how relationships between papers on life sciences can be improved by making them more social.
IV. CONCLUSIONS
These reviewed papers outline just some of the possibilities of the social web and some paths it might take in the near future. After concluding this review the author is even more motivated to explore what this particular branch of computer science has to offer. The scope of the review was chosen too wide without knowing what kind of results to expect. Although given these results no potential topic for a master thesis or research paper has come to mind, the author understands that more research needs to be done to narrow down the field of interest.
