Oscar Wilde (1854–1900) was an Irish playwright, poet, and author known for his wit, flamboyant style, and the satirical nature of his works. Wilde studied at Trinity College in Dublin and later at Magdalen College, Oxford. He became a leading figure in London’s social circles and was known for his sharp wit and brilliant conversation. The Importance of Being Earnest, one of his most famous plays, was first performed in 1895 and has since become a classic of English literature.
