THE ISSUE
Wells Fargo has done an incredible job of setting forth goals to motivate its employees and create continued success for the organization. To help motivate employees in reaching their goals the organization has implemented an incentive program that rewards it employees not only for reaching but exceeding their goals. Wells Fargo has met the criteria of goal setting however, what it has created is general goal specificity for all branches in the 23 states that the organization operates in. Now some employees thrive off of the goal difficulty and set forth to exceed those goals however many employees find themselves in an insurmountable task because the goal difficulty exceeds circumstances surrounding the community in which that specific branch resides. This has created an unfair advantage for certain employees. If an employee finds themselves in Medina, Washington, the chances of reaching their goal and receiving incentive is far greater than employees working in a desolate area of Alaska.
