Rescue Efforts
Along with other programs the Augsburg Zoo are organizing the breeding of different Amurs from various zoos in hope to preserve the Amur leopard as it appears in the wild (EEP). Currently home to 6 adults and 2 subadults the EFBC/FCC is also trying to breed this animal back from extinction. The EFBC/FCC is very proud to announce that their first 2 cubs Nadia and Anju are in good health and will remain there to continue the breeding program when they come of age (cathouse).
Conservationists and environmental organizations across the world are attempting to stop the extinction of many endangered animals including the Amur leopard. Governments are starting to take part in international agreements to ban the hunting and trading of animal products and have placed strict punishments on those caught. Aided by various independent organizations, there has been conservation programs and reserves developed to help preserve many endangered species.
