Civil society exists only if the people allow it to. Since the representative democracy does not always represent the interest of the general people, it is the general public's responsibility to fulfill participatory democracy. Moreover, the power of voicing our opinions in compromising with the state should be implemented to the fullest in a non-violent manner with tolerance and trust. Even though some of these aspects were not achieved in the Phom Mahakarn incident, the pride lies in the concept of civil society in which it directed the people to extra-parliamentary politics and informal politics, all of which stands for democracy. Although it unravels a small portion of successful democracy, it does however elevate Thai pride to a new level.…
