The article ends with a persuasive call to work collectively and make a real difference in the world by redefining the mainstream news and educating the masses, which by itself, one could insist, sounds like communist propaganda. I do not think we should look at the media as a big, lying propaganda machine and put our faith into something that a couple of philosophers wrote nearly three decades ago. However, it is interesting to read about a different perspective on the world we live in and to be reminded of how critical we have to be about the information we receive, but accusations like ‘’democracy is staged with the help of media that work as propaganda machines’’ or ‘’consent is being manufactured all around’’ are a little too dramatic. We should be sceptical and careful about who we trust and where we get our news from, but it does not mean we should let paranoia overtake our minds. …
