The Ozone Layer is a vital layer that surrounds Earth. It helps to protect it from the Sun's harmful impact by absorbing more than 99% of the ultraviolet radiation. This essential layer acts much like sunscreen which shields Earth. However, the continually abuse from man made chemicals and pollutants has slowly over time lead to its depletion.
The Stratosphere is located 10-50 kilometers above Earths surface and situated within this layer, at an altitude of 20-30 kilometers, is the Ozone Layer. The stratosphere contains oxygen molecules in two different forms - O2 comprising of two oxygen atoms and O3 which consists of three oxygen atoms. These O3 molecules are formed when O2 molecules interact with ultraviolet rays.
