Before the rebellion shaped up, John Jay feared a revolution and worried about the disaster and calamity under the Articles of Confederation . Eventually, people were aware of the weaknesses inherent in the Articles of Confederation and were ready for a change.
Overall, from 1781 to 1789, the Articles of Confederation failed to provide a truly effective government both politically, economically, and failed to maintain good foreign relations and commerce. The Articles of Confederation proved far too inadequate as a system of government to support an expanding nation and protect people's rights.
