The painting is in bright colors such as red and gold. Her dress is in red color and lilies are in pink colors, but pink is a shade of red. Red color symbolizes excitement, passion, love, but on the other hand - danger, blood, violence. In her dress there are elements in gold shades. Her hair are blond, but when light falls from the window it become in golden color. It is no surprise that gold symbolizes wealth and wisely, but it is also the symbol of good health. People who favor the color gold are optimistic. In my opinion, on purpose Gordon Napier’s Lady of Shalott is with blond hair, because this painting reflected her in the beginning of Tennyson’s poem when Lady of Shalott did not know about Lancelot and what had happened with her after this meeting.
When I first saw this painting my impression was really good, because I really like bright colors. I do not like when painting or pictures are in dark colors, because it force me to think about something negative, but I do not want to think about it. I really like light in this painting; I think that the light is natural that falls from the window. Firstly, the Lady seems to be happy: „Hear a song that echoes cheerly... „and she weaves her picture in happy, gay colors, and she has no care in the world other than weaving.
