In many cases causes are unknown, but there are
some reasons why it happens, for example some
illness, brain injury or abnormal brain
development. It also can be inborn. People with
epilepsy have to take medicine regularly, follow
their daily routine (at least 6h rest). It is also
forbidden to go in the sauna, sunbathe and also go
to nightclub, because flashing lights may left
negative impression on brain receptors and couse
a seizure.
Doctors use brain scans and other tests to diagnose epilepsy. The most frequent diagnose is the so called EEG (electroencephalogram). It is important to start treatment as soon as possible.
There is no cure for epilepsy, but for about 80 percent of those diagnosed with epilepsy, seizures can be controlled with modern medicines and surgical techniques. Special diets, which are called the ketogenic diet, can help some children with this illness.…
