University of Cambridge is the second oldest university in England and the fourth oldest in Europe.

Cambridge is a collegiate university, meaning that it is made up of self-governing and independent colleges, each with its own property and income. Academically, Cambridge is consistently ranked in the world's top five universities and as the leading university in Europe by numerous media and academic rankings The University's alumni include 87 Nobel Laureates as of 2010. The University of Cambridge currently has 31 colleges, of which three admit only women.

Departments
In addition to the 31 colleges, the university is made up of over 150 departments, faculties, schools, syndicates and other institutions. A 'School' in the University of Cambridge is a broad administrative grouping of related faculties and other units. There are six schools:
Arts and Humanities
Biological Sciences
Clinical Medicine
Humanities and Social Sciences
Physical Sciences
Technology
Each of these bodies covers a specified group of Faculties.
