The European Union also thinks about the environment, issuing various rules that the Member States must comply with. Along with the improvement of EU legislation in reducing environmental pollution, Latvia has also introduced regulations that prohibit the issuance of free plastic bags to consumers at points of sale in order to reduce their circulation in nature. Even from July this year, the sale of plastic containers will be banned. These changes encourage entrepreneurs to look for alternatives, thus also fostering innovation and creating new jobs. Summarizing the reviewed information, it can be concluded that Latvia's accession to the European Union has brought more benefits than losses. Although the number of students in Latvian higher education institutions is decreasing, the level of education in society is increasing, because people have the opportunity to go freely and get a better education abroad. Accession to the European Union has also had a positive effect on the country's economy, as the country's economic performance has risen significantly and agriculture. The use of EU budget funds has made it possible to improve public infrastructure, participate in various projects that have a good impact on the environment, education and other sectors.
