"The most perfect athletes among all are pentathletes, because their bodies combine
strength and speed in beautiful harmony." (Aristotle to the address of ancient pentathletes)
"I am happy that my colleagues today were enlightened by the pure sporting spirit and
embraced the sport to which I attach great importance."(Pierre de Coubertain at the IOC
meeting in Budapest in 1911 in response to the adoption of his proposal to include a modern
pentathlon in the OH program)
Modern pentathlon is a very demanding sport, which consists of five disciplines of
different character. Technical disciplines as a fencing, shooting and equestrian horse riding are
in opposition to speed endurance disciplines running and swimming. The diversity of
individual disciplines places a number of conditions on this sport, which determine the sport
preparation itself.
Limits of the research topic: In my work I was concentrated to main characteristic of modern
pentathlon and basic explanation of each discipline.
Aim: The aim of the work is based on the theory of the stages of sports training to verify in
practice whether the training of individual disciplines of modern pentathlon corresponds to
the rules of age categories.
Tasks: With the help of sources from the literature in this field and interview with Mgr.
Michails Jefremenko I will try to find answers to the following questions.
When is it best to start training individual disciplines with regard to their physical and
technical complexity?
Why are the individual disciplines of modern pentathlon added to the training process in the
exact order?
Why shouldn't or shouldn't all disciplines be trained all together at a young age?
Methods:
1. Study of literature sources
2. Inquiry (interview) …
