This paper is dedicated to an event that happened almost 60 years ago – the establishment of the state of Israel. For many people it could be a discovery that United States took a great role in this process. After going through this paper one could understand the “intimate” relationship of Israel and the United States of America nowadays.
To understand the case, it is necessary to get a historical background.
Israel was founded on May 14, 1948, but the way to the state of Israel was long and rough, and it has always been connected with Palestine.
Israel once was in the territory of Palestine. Therefore, its existence has always been endangered by Palestinian forces. For some, the problem with Palestine dates back to 1917, when Chaim Weizmann, scientist, statesman and Zionist, persuaded the British government to issue the Balfour Declaration, that favored the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine. For others, the question goes back to the Zionist Congress at Basel in 1897, when Theodor Herzl organized a meeting of Jewish leaders and called for the establishment of a Jewish state. For still others, the problem springs from the dispersion of the Jews from Palestine by the Roman governors in the first and second centuries A.D.
However, the “real action” started in 1945, with Harry S. Truman becoming the president of the United States of America. …
