There are 21 banks in Latvia now. Five bigger banks are Hansabanka, SEB Latvijas Unibanka, Parex banka, DnB Nord banka and Nordea bank Latvia. Only Parex banka has Latvia’s shareholders but others are subsidiaries of Scandinavian banks.
Latvia's banks earned a total of LVL 266.6 million last year. According to preliminary data, banks' profit last year was LVL 73.6 million or 38.1 percent larger than in 2005.
Total value of assets last year was 15,907 billion lats and the growth was 45,4%.
Total value of loans last year – 10,873 billion lats, and the growth was 56,2%. Half of the loans are mortgage loans – 5,587 billion lats.
Total value of deposits reached 7,762 billion lats, and the growth was 25,1%.
Return of equity was 26,3%, but return of assets 2,1%. Liquidity ratio was 51,1%.…
