Stratovulkāni rodas no daudz viskozākas granītiskas magmas, kas bagāta ar silīciju un gāzēm. Lavas plūsmas tikai dažos gadījumos sasniedz 10 km attālumu. Daudzreiz tās vispār neveidojas, jo viskozā (stīgrā) magma sacietē jau vulkāna krāterī, izveidojot lavas korķi, zem kura uzkrājas karstas gāzes. Ja lavas korķis sacietē, veidojas lavas kupols.…
