Hello. It’s very nice to see you all here today.
I’m going to inform you about the city of Saint Petersburg. The focus of my presentation is the history of the city, its main sightseeing attractions and economics of Saint Petersburg.
The purpose of this talk is to update you on this city and provide some information, which may be useful to you in the future, if you ever decide to visit Saint Petersburg or if you’d want to find more information about it.
I shall only take 10 minutes of your time and I’d be glad to answer any questions at the end of my talk.
I have divided my presentation into 3 parts. They are:
1.The history of the city from its foundation till the present time
2.The main sightseeing attractions, including The Hermitage, Catherdral of Our Lady Kazan, The Peterhof and the guide through the city’s streets and parks.
3.Economics of the city.

Let’s start with the history of the city

The city of St. Petersburg is relatively young according to European and Russian standards. Founded in year 1703 (one thousand seven hundred o three), the city celebrated 300th anniversary in year 2003. Although the city is rather young, it has rich and fascinating(увлекательная) history.
Peter I founded a new Russian fortress(крепость) on little Hare Island in the Neva delta in 1703 and called it Saint-Petersburg. Work on the fortifications(укреплять) started in 1704; Peter and the city's first governor(правитель), Alexander Menshikov, decided to make St. Petersburg the new capital of Russia, which would not suffer in comparison(сравнение) with any other European capital in its splendor(роскошь) and importance. …
