After analyzing the content of this magazine I can see how many women get so caught up in how they are supposed to act, dress, and speak. I have no problem admitting to myself or anybody that I was once absorbed in my self image during high school. I would read these magazines, trying to figure out how I could afford to dress in new styles, would wear make-up and buy many, many products that were just plain old unnecessary. It wasn't until the beginning of junior year that I realized that I wasn't comfortable with how I was behaving or being perceived. I stopped buying stuff and made do with the clothes and products I already owned. I resisted the pressures of society to consume so that men would find me desirable and instead worked on gaining an independent sense of self-worth. Even so, I still remain vulnerable due to the dominant power of males that still exists within society today. I believe that this is something that every woman deals with, the important part about it is that one must be aware of it and have the good sense to ignore the pressure of gender roles and live your life like you want to live it rather than having people tell you how to live it.…
