10.Because Hitler's plan had no need or room for homosexuals, many men were tortured and executed. Hitler even searched his own men, and sent them to concentration camps in their S.S. Uniforms. Homosexual prisoners were forced to wear pink triangles on their clothes so they could be recognized and humiliated inside the camps. It is believed that between 5 and 15 thousand homosexuals died in concentration camps.
11.The Holocaust has been taught as the mass murder of almost six million Jews during World War II, but more than 5 million others were also persecuted, tortured, tattooed and killed. These 5 million were men, women and children that died for their race or their beliefs. The survivors and families of these forgotten victims feel that they also deserve to be remembered. They too deserve their place in history (Holocaust - forgotten, 2003).
