People rarely complete every task in the same way. Some activities require cooperation, discussion, shared responsibility, and several different skills, while others demand concentration, independence, privacy, or deep individual thought. For this reason, the question of whether it is better to work in groups or alone cannot be answered with one simple rule. Group work can bring together several perspectives, divide a large task into manageable parts, and create ideas that one person may never have developed independently. At the same time, group work can become inefficient when people communicate poorly, contribute unequally, argue about decisions, or spend more time organising themselves than actually completing the task. Individual work avoids many of these problems because one person controls the schedule, method, pace, and final decisions, yet working alone can also create limitations because the person has access only to their own knowledge, experience, and perspective.…
