Airport is a state joint-stock company of the Republic of Latvia. The owner of all shares is the Republic of Latvia. The holder of state capital share is the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia.
Riga International Airport is one of the fastest growing in the world. Built in 1973 and renovated in 2001, the airport ('lidosta' in Latvian) has seen a steady increase in passengers in recent years. In 1998 it handled 550,000 passengers and that number has gone up every year, reaching 2,495,000 passengers in 2006. This year a new south terminal has been completed - and the plans for development don't stop there. The addition of a new terminal will give Riga's airport an annual capacity of a whopping ten million passengers!
Thanks to the refurbishment of 2001 (designed to coincide with the city's 800th birthday), Riga International Airport is a sleek, modern and functional affair. All the facilities you need are there.
All information for the report has been taken from Riga Inernational Airport web page.…
