Take needed medication if it has been suggested by a doctor. Taking an Aspirin may help because it slows down the blood’s ability to clot, thus reducing the severity of the heart attack.
As there are to most medical emergencies, heart attacks also have complications which have a high possibility of being very serious and even a risk to a patient’s life. Some of the complications are: arrhythmias which is when a humans heart begins to beat faster and faster until it stops to beat completely, also called cardiac arrest. Another complications may be a heart rupture or even a cardiogenic shock where noticeable damage is caused to the hearts muscles and valves thus leading to not having enough blood to fully function. Many people die because of these complications even before reaching the hospital or weeks after being in the hospital, though this depends on the patient’s age, the received immediate treatment and the severity of the heart attack.
According to a report (Ways to decrease your risk of having a heart attack. By Emma Hammett) there are ways of decreasing the likelihood of a heart attack appearing. There are 8 key factors that are responsible for 61% of all cardiovascular deaths which are: high blood pressure, high body mass index, low fruit and vegetable intake, physical activity, high blood glucose, high cholesterol, tobacco and alcohol use. To lessen the risk of a heart attack people should do daily exercise, eat healthy, limit alcohol and smoking intake, and try to keep track of your weight and blood pressure. Although some heart attack risk factors are not in people’s control, for example age, gender or heredity.
